June - final countdown is on!

Hi Grade 2 families!

This is Ms. Rogers writing to you and I'm excited to share some of the activities we have been doing in class!
The transition seemed to go very well with me taking over for Mrs. Bass. Both myself and the students have had lots of fun so far and we have built great relationships!
I have tried to keep the general schedule and routines the same in the classroom - Mrs. Bass did a great job of telling me how the classroom was run!

We have a few exciting "in-class field trips" this month to enhance our Social Studies unit and Science unit. During these presentations we are focusing on learning through discovery and problem-solving as well as creating some art work! Make sure you check in with your child to find out all the cool stuff we did!

Science Update: We are working through the Small crawling and Flying Animals Unit

Social Studies Update: We are talking about our communities and what they looked like in the past!

Religion: We are working through a prayer project where the students are writing individual prayers to each other! Keep an eye out for their prayer booklet they will be bringing home dedicated to them!

LA: We have begun a mini unit based on the book "Owls in the Family" By Farley Mowat. We are creating a mini storyboard/novel summary after every chapter. The book fits great into our current Science and Social studies units as well and we are learning lots through this novel! It is a very engaging and interesting project!

I look forward to ending the year with all the student and we have lots of engaging and reflective activities planned, not to mention lots of fun as we near the end of our Grade 2 journey!

I want to thank all of your children for welcoming me so warmly to the class and it has been nothing but a positive and rewarding experience!

If you ever have any questions, comments or concerns please do not hesitate to email me at jillian.rogers@cssd.ab.ca

Take care!
Ms. Rogers =)
